Discord integrates voice chat into Xbox consoles

Players can shift their calls and messages over to the platform, users on PC and mobile can also join

Discord has partnered up with Xbox to bring voice chat functionality to Series X|S and Xbox One consoles.

Using the Xbox mobile app, users will be able to set up voice chats and transfer them to the platform by connecting Discord to their Xbox accounts.

It also allows cross-platform communication, so users playing on PC and mobile can also join a chat hosted on any of the three platforms.

As well as voice calls, the app can also transfer servers, direct and group messages to Xbox consoles.

The feature is currently being trialled inside the Xbox Insiders program, with wider availability coming soon.

Last year, Discord announced that it would be integrating its platform into the PlayStation Network, and shared that Sony had made a minority investment into the company.

While Discord users gained the ability to link to their PlayStation accounts and share activity back in January, hosting and participating in voice chats on Sony consoles is not possible yet.
