Tate Multimedia shifts into a third-party game publisher

The Kao the Kangaroo maker says the pivot reflects its expanding business operations

Today Tate Multimedia announced that it has become a third-party game publisher.

The company behind Kao the Kangaroo previously used to self-publish its own titles.

Based in Warsaw, Poland and established in 2000, Tate has developed titles such as Steel Rats, the Urban Trial series and Kao the Kangaroo.

The company said that its transition into game publishing reflects its expanding business operations.

"We know how important both retaining ownership of an IP and cash flow is for an indie studio and we want to make sure our collaborative approach and financial commitment give clear visibility and comfort to our partners in that regard," said Tate Vice President Paul Leskowicz.
