A Better ABK calls for staff walkout following Roe vs Wade reversal

"Employees are actively facing state legislation that is putting women, LGBTQ+ employees, and their families at risk..."

Today the ABK Workers Alliance called for a walkout following the US Supreme Court's reversal of Roe vs Wade.

The group said in a Twitter thread that the employee committee against sex and gender discrimination will be conducting a protest on July 21.

"We are calling for protection of several communities of marginalized workers," the group said.

"Employees are actively facing state legislation that is putting women, LGBTQ+ employees, and their families at risk, with other vulnerable groups on the horizon."

The protest will also focus on protecting staffers from threats such as retaliation and harassment following the court's ruling.

The ABK Workers Alliance added that the walkout represents several actions its employer should enact to protect its staff.

The demands shared included employee relocation assistance, the option for remote work, and cost of living adjustments for staff to move to safe state/country to avoid discriminatory legislation.

In the wake of the Roe vs Wade decision, Activision Blizzard was one of the game studios and organizations across the industry that spoke up for abortion rights.

A company representative said that the firm had already expanded its employee medical coverage.

"...we announced our expanded medical travel benefits to include coverage for US employees and their dependents who participate in our medical plans and live in areas where access to medical care, including reproductive health, gender-affirming treatment, transplant care, and any other medical care covered by our plans that is not available in a covered person's state, or within 100 miles of where they live," said the spokesperson.
