BAFTA announces 2022 Young Game Designers competition winners

Winners will be featured in the Museum of Science and Industry's Power Up exhibition in Manchester

BAFTA has revealed the winners of the Young Game Designers awards for 2022.

In the ten to 14-years-old group, Jasmine Guan won the Game Concept Category with puzzler Tiled in Twilight, which she described as "a pretty pixelated picross puzzle game where you illuminate the past."

At 13, Guan was the youngest winner of the digital ceremony, which was hosted by Inel Tomlinson.

In the same age category, Alfie Wilkinson won the Game Making Category for Egglien, which is due to release this August on Steam.

In the 15 to 18-years-old category, the Game Concept Category was won by Jaime Wiliams for Carrier Pigeon: World Tour, "an arcade game about exploration, community, and delivering mail."

In the Game Making Category, 15-year-old Andrew Ah-Weng won for Space Boids, having won in the ten to 14-years-old category last year.

Winners will be featured in the Museum of Science and Industry's Power Up exhibition in Manchester, with all finalists having access to masterclasses and mentorship opportunities.

BAFTA's interim chief executive Kevin Price commented: "Once again we were blown away by the level of creativity and passion embodied in our four winning games this year.

"BAFTA Young Game Designers will continue to support the next generation of game-creators, and we are delighted that this offers young people across the UK the chance to pursue their passion at such an early stage. Congratulations to all. Bring on next year's entries."
