Halo Infinite head of design leaves 343 Industries

Jerry Hook joined Xbox in 2003, has held senior roles across multiple titles in the franchise

Jerry Hook, the head of design on Halo Infinite has left 343 Industries.

In a tweet thread, Hook shared that May 25 was his "last day at 343i, Microsoft and Halo."

"This journey has been filled with creating new worlds, platforms and products from Xbox, Xbox Live to Halo," Hook continued.

"Most of all it has been working alongside some of the most passionate and driven people in the industry, that have impacted millions of players around the world. Thank you to all that have let me run alongside you in this amazing industry."

Hook has been involved with Halo and Xbox for almost 20 years -- he joined the firm in 2003 as lead program manager for commerce and accounts on Xbox Live.

Later, he served as an executive producer on numerous titles including Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians. Hook left the company in 2015 to work on Destiny over at Bungie, but returned in 2018 to join the Halo Infinite team.

Hook did not share where he was going next, but wrote "next saga coming soon" on his LinkedIn page.

Halo Infinite has seen a number of departures this year; multiplayer lead Andrew Witts left 343 back in March to "take some time off and recharge", while senior narrative writer Aaron Linde moved onto Riot back in January.

In April, 343 announced its intent to push back some Halo Infinite updates in order to prioritise the health of its team. A new roadmap unveiled that its co-operative campaign update has been moved back to August, while its open beta of Forge mode was pushed to September.
