Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel delayed to 2023

Series producer Eiji Aonuma apologizes as game slips from previous 2022 release window

Nintendo today announced that it has delayed the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to a spring 2023 release window.

The follow-up to the Switch launch title (and last major Wii U release) was previously expected to launch this year.

In a video revealing the delay, Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma apologized and explained that the company decided to extend the development schedule.

"In order to make this game's experience something special, the entire development team is continuing to work diligently on this game, so please wait a while longer," Aounuma said.
