League Of Legends skin raises $7m for charity

Funds raised were contributed to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund

Riot Games has raised over $7 million for charity with a premium character skin inside League of Legends.

Players were able to purchase the Elderwood Ornn charity skin between December 2020 and January 2021.

The proceeds from all sales were donated to the Riot Games' Social Impact Fund, a venture fund set by Riot to invest in numerous nonprofits and games-centric initiatives across the globe.

The fund, founded in 2019, is a separate entity from Riot's development and publishing arms. According to the company, the fund has generated over $15 million for various causes.

Last year, the company generated $6 million with a different charity skin, Dawnbringer Karma. Players were also able to nominate nonprofits in their local areas to receive a percentage of the funding.
