IGN to host Summer of Gaming digital event in June

Outlet partners with publishers including 2K, Square Enix, Sega, Bandai Namco, Google, Devolver, others

IGN has announced it will hold a digital Summer of Gaming event in early June, aiming to fill the programming gap left by E3's cancellation due to COVID-19.

Partners supporting the event include Square Enix, Sega, Bandai Namco, Amazon, Google, Twitter, Devolver Digital, and THQ Nordic, with publisher presentations planned alongside IGN-led content such as interviews, demos, and discussions.

"With the next generation of console gaming kicking off later this year and gamers eager to learn more about what games they'll be playing on their new hardware, our online event will be a key moment for publishers and developers to connect with the audience worldwide," said IGN chief content and product officer Peer Schneider.

Following the cancellation of E3 announced last month, the ESA indicated it was exploring options for some kind of online experience to showcase industry announcements in June.

However, no further plans from the ESA have been announced at this time.
