YoYo Games promotes Stuart Poole to general manager

Poole was previously head of production and partnerships, replaces outgoing GM James Cox

YoYo Games has appointed Stuart Poole as its new general manager, the position formerly held by James Cox.

The company behind GameMaker Studio 2 first hired Poole in 2010 as its head of production and partnerships. In that role, he was involved in running partner relations, production and operations at the UK company.

"Since the launch of GameMaker Studio 2, we continue to learn about how our community uses the platform to build inspirational games that push development concepts in the 2D space," Poole said in a statement.

"With a talented team of true innovators, I'm excited to take up the mantle of general manager at YoYo Games and evolve GameMaker to the next level of 2D games development".

Prior to joining YoYo Games, Poole worked at companies such as Microprose, Ocean and Realtime Worlds, contributing to more than 50 games across 30 years in the games industry.

James Cox stepped down from the role of general manager in October 2018. He is now senior director of engineering at NaturalMotion.
